In Memory of
Sable
To our sweet Sable. Who knew the little bunny shaped face would steal our hearts? You definitely had a one of a kind personality. We teased you about being 'touched'. Your affection was not for a stuffie or a walk or even a car ride; you had only eyes for your food bowl. Always herding the cat away, not letting your former sidekick Thumper, or the newest addition to our family, Maxx, get anywhere near it. While I was jealous of the time you preferred to spend guarding it and not on my lap, watching your little food dance, and licking your lips always made me laugh.
You could also make us laugh at your stiff-as-a-board imitation. "Dad" lying on the floor with you on your back on top of him, one paw up one paw down. Not moving a hair, or even breathing but grinning from ear to ear. I always said you'd be a hit on Letterman's Stupid Pet Tricks.
Your lifelong companion, our Boston, Thumper, passed in September after a long life. Maybe you missed him enough that you wanted to go hang out with him at the endless food bowl at the rainbow bridge. You left us too early though, little girl. We really miss you, your grin, and all your crazy snorts. Your short little legs always left you working hard to keep up with everyone. Breathe and rest easy now, sweetie.
Love,
"Mom & Dad"
