HONORARY FRENCHIES....

"We're not Frenchies, but don't we deserve homes too?"

BUBA

Meet BUBA! Buba is a Boxer/Pit mix who was rescued from an abandoned building in the Bronx. Ten weeks ago, he was found covered in feces and flies, and his ears were bloody. There were signs that he had been tormented and abused by people who regularly broke into the building. A kind neighbor gave him food and water when she could, and he eventually found his way into a rescue home, where he was given a name, fed wholesome home-cooked food, and received medical care to heal his hurts while kind gentle voices and pats went to work mending his heart. At first, Buba’s eyes were sad and he still cowered, but a few short weeks later, his gaze is one of gratitude and trust. He eagerly awaits a command to “Sit” and anticipates the head pats, the throw of a tennis ball or the treats that may follow! BUBA loves to play with other dogs (my four year-old Frenchie male loves to wrassle and gnaw on BUBA!) He is good with kids and adults and most other dogs. BUBA is not submissive, though he is not aggressive either. He will take a lot of punches from female dogs, and in a noisy scuffle with another neighborhood dog he received a few scratches, where the other dog was totally unscratched. BUBA will continue to need strong leaders who are aware of his abusive past and are willing to work with him in this area. Also, because of a tummy obstruction that has since been resolved, his neuter had to be rescheduled, so this surgery is also likely to have a positive impact on any flare-ups he might encounter with other male dogs. Buba is heartworm negative and in good health.

BUBA loves to give love! He adores the affection and attention he receives and gives it back tenfold. He has the energy of a young dog, but is not hyper. He responds well to commands delivered in a soft tone, and he is receiving some basic training, which he loves! He looks at his trainer with such readiness and satisfaction at the possibility of performing well and showing that he is capable. His foster mom says, “BUBA is a very special dog. Despite his early abuse, he is sweet, eager to learn and eager to please, and in the right hands will be a great, outstanding dog.”

BUBA loves to be active, so put away the remote and grab the frisbee!

He is located in NYC.

TAO

Hi Folks !

My name is Tao and I am a Pekingese. I will be a year old next month. I am a big boy now, and need to find my special home. I have been taught to walk on lead, potty outside or on a pee-pee pad (I knew that might be important in case my person might live in an apartment or condo) and I travel well (I ride well in a car, but need to be in my crate for protection if there was an accident.) My crate is my safe place that is filled with all my “Good Stuff”. When my Mom is not home she keeps me safe by putting me in my crate. I enjoy that quiet time, but am always happy to join everyone when they get home. I guess it goes without saying that I am the kind of guy that belongs in the house; if I go outside it is for a short time. I need to have a yard with a fence unless my new family wants to walk with me.

I am a kind, happy guy and enjoy people, but like my ancestors, I will always prefer the company of my person. I love to play with my toys and to eat. I really don’t know which I like best. The thing I love the most is being with my companion.

I don’t mind kitties, but I must say that if they run I have a tendency to follow them. Other dogs are just fine with me as long as they are not too rough (I am not that big - about 12 lbs. and could get hurt, even by accident.) My companion could have a job or be at home - either is all right with me, so long as they understand it is most important to me to be with them as much as possible. I understand what “NO” means and always want to please, so that is all that is needed to get my attention.

If you are interested in me joining your family, please email: SeeQuee@gmail.com

FINN:

DORA:

BEATRIX:

FIONA:

FINN
Meet Finn, a mischievous little imp disguised in six pounds of adorable puppy clothing! Though the smallest of the bunch, you would never know it by listening to him- he has a BIG personality and a loud voice to match! Thoroughly outgoing with his sisters and absolutely enamored with adult dogs no matter their size, Finn is still a teeny bit shy of people. He was saved with his sisters Fiona, Beatrix, and Dora 15 minutes before certain death at a North Carolina gassing shelter, and now has made his way down to the Lowcountry and is growing bigger and braver by the day. If you catch him, he'll stick around, but like most boys, he'd rather be playing in the mud and digging up bugs than being coddled and fussed over. Finn loves rollin' with his homies, which include the resident pit bull and a French bulldog foster, and as he was the runt of the litter, he LOVES food!

DORA
Grab your backpack and lets GO, says Dora, the little explorer amongst the North Carolina Four! When she and her sisters Fiona and Beatrix and her brother Finn were saved from a North Carolina gassing shelter just 15 minutes before their expiration date, she was the first one to toddle up to her rescuer, ears pricked, tail wagging, all three and a half pounds of her wiggling from head to toe. Dora is the first puppy out of the crate in the morning and the last one in the crate in the evening. She is the first to try anything new and approaches life with a happy, upbeat, I'm-game-for-anything attitude.

BEATRIX
What are little girls like Beatrix made of? Sugar and spice, and everything nice of course! Beatrix brings happiness everywhere her little paws take her, and always has a gentle kiss or nuzzle at the ready. Saved with her sisters Fiona and Dora and her brother Finn 15 minutes before certain death at a North Carolina gassing shelter, Beatrix has made her way down to the Lowcountry and is getting sweeter (and more plump) by the day. She playfully takes part in puppy war games such as ambush-the-flip-flop, tug 'o war, and butcher the stuffie carcass. But Beatrix is just as content to cuddle and burrow under the covers with you, as she is to attack your feet.

FIONA
Mirror mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? Why, Fiona of course- at least, she seems to think so! Fiona has beautiful silver sable markings and definitely thinks she's the cat's pajamas.

She bounds around the like the rest of her puppy compatriots, but something in her bearing just shouts out "I'm gorgeous, and I know it!" Saved with her sisters Beatrix and Dora and her brother Finn 15 minutes before certain death at a North Carolina gassing shelter, Fiona has made her way down to the Lowcountry and is growing fairer by the day. Fiona is no delicate flower; she playfully takes part in puppy war games such as ambush-the-flip-flop, tug 'o war, and butcher the stuffie carcass. But at the end of the day, Fiona is a lover, not a fighter, and just wants a loving pair of arms to hug her as she deserves.

The puppies may (or may not be) German Shepherd/Belgian Tervuren mixes, and as such, prospective parents should be prepared for them to grow anywhere from 40 to 75 lbs as adults. Right now, they are still young enough to require three square meals a day, and potty breaks every three hours at least. They are estimated to be about nine weeks old. At their tender age, they need lots of love, attention, and socialization and as they grow, they will need lots of exercise and mental stimulation to keep them from entertaining themselves with your shoes, furniture, and other precious belongings. If this sounds like just the kind of long-term relationship you've been looking for (think 13-16 years), please contact Mabel's Place at mabelsplace@gmail.com for information about applying for the puppies- but don't wait, these babies won't be available for long! An application and home visit is required and the puppies have to be spayed and neutered. They are UTD on vaccines and are being fostered in Charleston, SC.

EVE

I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive." ~Gilda Radner

Flirty, fabulous Eve is one of the most endearing girls EVER. From the first moment she nestles her little head on your shoulder, you will know the meaning of unconditional love. One year old and reet petite at 42 lbs, she is just the right size to fill that empty spot in your life.

If you are retired or work from home, Eve could be the companion of your lifetime -- your one true heart dog. Active and happy as can be, Eve is even a television star. She recently wowed the cast and crew of Philly's TV 10! Show with her charismatic charms. Beautiful, bouncy, loving and snuggly, she lights up a room.

Special as she is, Eve is also a special needs girl because she has megaesophagus. This is a condition characterized by the dog's inability swallow food correctly due to poor muscle contraction and relaxation in the esophagus. Eve's condition is stable, however, and requires minimal extra attention on the part of her caregiver. She just had her annual check-up and impressed her vet with how well she's doing.

Eve has a special food, which gets soaked in the fridge and then whirled in the blender. It can be made ahead in batches that will last several days. She eats three times a day. Eve has a special chair made just for her by a family friend. She's used to her routine, so you just say, "Eve, get in your seat," and she's ready to eat in an upright position. Then she hangs out in her chair for about 15 minutes. Gravity helps the food go down and settle in her tummy. That's it, no big deal. Eve's feeding time is an opportunity for you to bond with her and build a lasting relationship.

Eve has very good manners: she is ninety-nine percent housebroken, crate-trained, and she walks well on a leash. She has a special harness that fits her just right and she will bring it with her to her new home. She would love to have an active doggy playmate of similar size and disposition to share good times. In her foster home, she has even developed a working relationship with the cat!

Yes, it's true, she requires a little more care than an ordinary boxer, but who wants ordinary when you can have Eve? If you are interested, please email: GKARAM18@AOL.COM or visit Eve's page to get an adoption app HERE

Jeffrey's Mother:

JEFFREY

Jeffrey is 1/2 champion black Lab, and 1/2 French bulldog. He is 1 year old. Very intelligent, and in need of a structured environment where he may be encouraged intellectually and athletically. I fostered his mother (a French bulldog) the night after she had an emergency c-section that produced three Labrador pups. I raised all three pups until they were adopted, then adopted their mother myself. (Murpheee, my French bulldog, inadvertently nursed Jeffrey a couple of times when trying to help out Lillie.) All the puppies lived and were adopted. When the man who dumped Lillie (the mom) at the vet clinic, he explained that his neighbor was furious that his champion black Lab had tarnished himself by mating with a French bulldog. I have attached photos of Jeffrey as a puppy and as an adult. Lillie was in a horrific state of neglect. It is a wonder that any of them survived. She has since sustained two complete ear ablations, etc. etc. etc.

Here is Jeffrey's story: He was adopted as a 12 week-old puppy to a family who made a training commitment and didn't follow through. Jeffrey, a young and energetic puppy was left behind when the family and their other dog went everywhere together. Jeffrey is a very smart boy who needs structure and guidance. He never understood where he fit in life and in this family. When Jeffrey began to display excited and insecure puppy behavior, his owners bought a chihuahua and left Jeffrey at DAWG two months later.

He is incredibly responsive and will soon be a graduate of professional training (which I am paying for, and following up on during the week). Jeffrey can be very selective when choosing his dog buddies (although he lived with another dog), but we are working on making him feel safe and confident in all situations. His trainer says that he is one of the smartest dogs that she has ever met. Now, at 1 year old and 55 lbs, he needs a home where he will receive structure, unconditional love, and training. He loves to take athletic adventures and to cuddle like a baby. Contact Karen at k9ambassador@gmail.com for more information.
